Report :

This was a closely contested game with Worcester putting the pressure on Harbourne right from the start. There was good linking play between the midfield of Emily Swinswood and Becky Donnelly with the forwards Libby Hayes and Lucy Merrett. Alongside this was support from Charlotte Bowyer who had an outstanding game taking on both midfield and defence to feed some great passes into the forwards. Worcester after a few short corners were then able to convert the ball out from Imi Wheelan and put into the back of the goal by Libby Hayes. With more near misses and good saves from Harbournes goalie Worcester were frustrated. Harbourne also put pressure on Worcester defence and were able to respond with goals from open play. As Worcester continued to put together a series of quick accurate passes this then resulted in Worcester going 2-1 up into half time with a shot fired in by Libby Hayes. However, Worcester lost momentum in the second half and through some momentary lapses and umpiring decisions allowed Harbourne to put two past Jo Brett who had made some great saves. The defence guided by Helen Brown worked hard with Donna Holland and Alice Duke making some great tackles. Despite some last minute surges from Worcester with Emily Swinswood feeding direct balls there was no reprive for the team from the loss. Charlotte Bowyer was nominated player of the match - good luck next week.
