Battle in the snow
By Georgie Ballard
The snow glows white on the pitch today
Not a flip flop to be seen
A city of hockey players
And it looks like we're the queen's
The rain is falling like this fighting storm inside
Harbourne couldn't keep us out, heaven knows they tried
We didnt let them through, didn't let them win
Passed it round the back where the space would be
Maintain, no blame, we put on a show
Well now you know!
Wonderful Worcester Women's 1s had a chilly start to their game but their play was anything but frosty. After last week's loss it was all the more important that they pulled together and continued to play the standard of hockey they are capable of. As MOM Vicky was testament to this, scoring 2 of Worcester's 3-0 win, the other coming from Hope. There were multiple instances of players sliding on the precariously slippery pitch but Worcester reacted and adapted well to the conditions, focusing on successive passing and long range balls rather than risk losing control by holding on for too long. A great team effort, and a much needed lift for the dampend spirits of last week, that the team plan to replicate next week on home turf. DOD goes to Tom (although there were numerous people up for contention) for forgetting he was given gloves at the start of the game and complaining his hands were cold. Three tiered triple chocolate toffee-fudge cake with a coolie centre yeah Tom?
