Worcester 6s carve out a draw with Worcester 7s
By Steve Neal
Draw was the right results in a passionate inter club league game
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon when Worcester 7s hosted the 6s at Nunnery Wood.
Worcester 7s started brightly with the team move the ball with long direct moves.
Matt Sharratt and Nigel Haddock broke through the defence. Reg Sharratt challenged well, but the ball fell to Nigel who slotted the ball in.
The Worcester 6s started to show more composure with better marking and tackles.
Michael Chorlton and Dominic Hole were marking tight and tackling hard, along with new player Mark Yeldham who was setting in.
In midfield Tom Howard was starting to command the position, along with Ryan Russell on the Right and John Simpson on the left.
Terry Duffy had just cried off with gout and Graham Okeefe was skiing, so Jacob Chakko-George along with Adrian Shipley and Andy Hares had attacking responsibilities.
Worcester 6s were rewarded for their efforts just before 1/2 time with Jacob Chakko-George weaving though the 7s defence and slotting in a goal.
So, 1/2 time its 1-1.
In the second half, Worcester 6s were more involved in the game. There was determination in defence and also good movement on the attack.
Against the play the 7s smacked a ball in the 6s D. Dippy was about to pounce, but Steve Neal managed to carefully slot the ball in his own goal in a single movement.
The 6s were in shock! But, even more determined than ever. As the minutes passed, it looked like it was a lost battle, but Jacob Chakko-George once again managed to get in the D and slot in a second goal.
The game ended 2-2 draw.
