Stratford played better than Worcester and deservedly won
George took out the knee of one of the Stratford men
A makeshift M8s team took on Stratford 6s. Stratford played better than Worcester and deservedly won. Their umpires ensured that what was a deserved victory, was a flattering one with a couple of their own judgements to make it 5-1. Stratford pressed hard and put pressure on Worcester. Worcester lost their composure, did not use the width of the pitch and did not maintain the discipline of remaining in the position creating some self-inflicted confusion and giving Stratford space to exploit. Some good bits of hockey and shots on goal from Stratford’s younger players.
Other notable points of the game included the goal as an accurate short corner shot by Dom Stokes into the bottom left of the back board. Debut performances for two of the three badgers we fielded, Andrew Bowkett and Cullen Harris – thank you for stepping up to the challenge. I think you can be proud of your first outing into men’s hockey. Finally, the game ended a few minutes early after George took out the knee of one of the Stratford men who perhaps showed a little too much courage and bravado in trying to put pressure on George’s 16 yard strike. As I’m sure he will be visiting their local A&E our thoughts are with him and that it proves not to be too serious. Russ Boatman … perhaps I should leave these to you.
