Injury set backs for U16

Worcester boys U16 were defeated by Bath Buccs in a feisty game that was to determine who progressed to the upcoming regional finals. Worcester started well taking the lead with a passing move that stunned the visitors. Will Hood disposed an attacker on our 25, smashed a reverse hit down the line to Rory Simons who fired in an angled ball to Connor Winkworth who lifted it over the oncoming keeper. As the half progressed both sides had chances but it wasn't until just before half time that Buccs equalised from a short corner. This was a double blow for Worcester as shortly before Finley Stanley was forced from the pitch with a broken finger. In the second half Finley bravely played on one handed up front, but further injuries to key players enabled the visitors to race to a 4-1 lead. However, Worcester showed great character in their determination to fight back creating chances of their own and scored a consolation when Kieran Shipley fired home a penalty flick after Finley Stanley was cynically taken out by the keeper in a one on one.
