League leaders dominate game

Worcester travelled away to top of the league University of Birmingham knowing it would be a tough game. Birmingham quickly put Worcester under pressure as Worcester struggled to get used to the bouncy pitch. Although the University side attacked the Worcester defence they held firm thanks to good saves from Izzy Friedlander. Worcester created a few chances of their own at the other end of the pitch. They held firm to begin with but eventually Worcester did concede, however, they kept their heads and tried to keep attacking themselves. Despite showing some good play Worcester found themselves 4-0 at half time. Worcester began the second half with belief that they could find a way through the Birmingham defence as they had found in the first half. However, Worcester continued to find themselves under pressure from the University side. An injury to a Worcester defender meant that Worcester had to move players around to cover but they still found chances to go forward thanks to great play from Leah Heath and Philli Roberts. Worcester got a goal back through a well worked short corner where Clare Hayes played a precise pass to Millie Wemyss who carefully placed it past the Birmingham keeper. The final score finished at 9-1 Worcester showed periods of great team play and the score not a true reflection of the entire game. Worcester finish the season at home this Saturday when they entertain Beeston 3s.
