Womens 1st XI rack up first win of the season

The new look 1st team pulled out an absolutely cracking performance in their first win of the season against an experienced North Stafford. From the start Worcester put pressure on the opposition pushing high and creating numerous chances. The scoring started midway through the first half where the girls were given a short corner which was ably finished off with a fantastic strike from Daisy Ellis. The girls were on a roll and kept the pressure up with a brilliant performance from the back 4 distributing the ball well. The crowd didn't have to wait too long for the second with some fantastic passing play setting captain Jo Walker up for her first of the match. North Stafford picked themselves up and came back at us but again the defence held firm. The third also came in the first half with a superb reverse stick shot from Beth Carter. North Stafford pulled one back shortly after having drawn out goal keeper Charlotte Hurley and skilfully driving around behind to finish off in the goal, Worcester went in at half time 3-1 up. The second half again started strong with the same fantastic passing, open and expansive play offering a number of chances up front. North Stafford had their chances too through a couple of short corners but the defensive wall held strong. Eventually the 4th came with a lovely cross over to Captain Jo to slot it into the goal with a lovely angled touch to give her her second of the afternoon. The whistle was blown with a final score of 4-1. A much improved, great team performance.
