Bourneville 4 v 2 Worcester Worcester Hockey club Mens 2nd XI’s winning streak came to an abrupt end against Bourneville on Saturday. Despite dominating possession and looking the better of the two sides, Worcester failed to turn their dominance into goals. After a particularly impressive first 20 minutes, Worcester found themselves 2-0 down with the hosts converting two identical Short Corners in as many minutes. Worcester hit back with Chris Simmonds finding the net with a thunderbolt from a tight angle and Worcester went into the half time interval confident of securing the win despite trailing 2-1. Worcesters trade mark lack of concentration was ultimately what put the game out of reach for them though, another needlessly conceded short corner allowed Bourneville to make the Score 3-1. Worcester threw caution to the wind and had to attack which allowed the hosts to claim a lucky 4th goal on the counter attack. Matt Hooper hit back though after excellent work from Man of the Match Chris Watling to make the score 4-2, however despite the quality on the pitch, superior possession and territory Worcester were left to rue some basic schoolboy mistakes and succumb to another league defeat.
