Barford Tigers 5 v 1 Worcester Worcester fell to another away defeat, this time at league leaders Barford Tigers, who maintained their 100% start to the season. Despite the score line, the match was a closely contested affair; however the hosts ruthlessness in front of goal was ultimately the deciding factor. Worcester fell behind in dubious circumstances after a penalty corner was flicked wide and deflected in off the retreating James Neal for a controversial own goal. As is typical of Worcester this year, small errors have been costing the team dear and the host scored a further 3 goals after capitalising on Worcester mistakes. With half time approaching, Worcester to their credit kept pressing hard, the impressive Freddy Hanbury launching a signature pitch long ariel into the Barford D where the expecting Jez Drake was on hand to blast the ball into the net. Despite the home sides obvious attacking qualities, Worcester noticed a weakness at the back of their opponents and an excellent second half performance saw the visitors create plenty of opportunities to reduce the deficit with the influential Chris Perry, Matt Hooper and Jack Townsend all going close. However it wasn’t to be and as the game drew to a close, the hosts hit Worcester with a fine sucker punch to make the score line a little more flattering than the game appeared. The Haribo Man of The Match was Freddy Hanbury.
