This was an entertaining game that arguably neither side deserved to lose. Worcester started brightly keeping the ball well and spreading the play, but Lichfield gradually forced their way into the game, forcing james Hurley in the Worcester goal to make some fine saves. Worcester too had their chances and eventually the deadlock was broken when Rory Simons drove into the dee from a self taken long corner, pulled the ball back to Andy Taylor who struck the ball into the far corner of the goal, shortly before half time. Lichfield started the second half the stronger side forcing Worcester onto the back foot and soon equalised from a short corner. The game became end to end and the tempo of both sides increased and with ten minutes left Taylor again gave Worcester the lead with a superbly taken first time shot from the top of the dee. Lichfield refused to give the game up and soon they were on level terms scrambling the ball home after some messy Worcester defending. The game ended a draw with both sides feeling a win was possible, which should make for an entertaining return match after christmas.
