The 5ths unbeaten league run game to an end in this high tempo encounter with the 4ths. Both teams started well moving the ball nicely but the 4ths had the best early chance after 10 minutes when Pete Young burst past the 5ths defence. The 4s soon took the lead when Malcolm Evans finished a well worked short corner. The 5s dug in and forced a short corner of their own from which Reg Sharratt in the 4s goal had to make an excellent save but soon after however the 5s pulled level when Simon Griffiths rifled home a short corner. At the break the game was there for either side to win. In the second half the 4s stepped up the pressure and forced the 5ths onto the back foot. As the 5s tired they collected 2 green cards for poor challenges and the 4s took advantage going 3-1 up with goals from Will Hood and Pete Young. The 5s however rallied with 15 minutes to go and forced another short corner with Simon Griffiths again hammering the ball straight through the keepers legs, and as the 5s pressed for the equaliser the 4s looked to be on the ropes. However, they were denied an equaliser in the last minute when Ollie Cornelius picked out a goal bound shot on the line with almost the last touch of the game, and the game finished 3-2. The game was played and umpired in good spirits, well done all concerned.
