Edgbaston 6th 4 v Worcester 5th 5

This was an entertaining roller coaster of a match. Worcester started well only to go a goal down after 5 minutes against the run of play. Unfazed Worcester took the game to Edge going close on a number of occasions before finally pulling level through Matt Brindley. As the game progressed Worcester looked the better side but were caught a number of times on the break, however by half time the game looked theirs for the taking. Edgbaston had other ideas and flew out of the blocks at the re-start forcing Mike Lloyd in the Worcester goal into a double save, swiftly followed by a number of interceptions from various Worcester defenders in what was a fire storm of an opening couple of minutes. Worcester composed themselves then swiftly took the lead through Chris Wood. Again Worcester pressed forward but as play broke down they were hit on the counter 3 times as Edge raced into a 4-2 lead. At this point Worcester looked finished, but, with 15 minutes to go they were rallied by Kevin Oliver who took control of the midfield, Worcester began to move the ball better, then soon pulled a goal back through Matt Brindley. Minutes later another good Worcester move was finished off with a great strike by Kevin Oliver to pull the visitors level, then with only a few minutes remaining Worcester stole the lead when captain Paul Simons bundled the ball home at a short corner. Edgbaston rallied but time ran out and Worcester took the points, well done all !
