potters

Some games you are just destined not to win - and this was one of them! 24-hours before push-back the Potters had only 6 players, but we begged, we borrowed and we stole (joking!) and actually lined up with a squad of 12. The story of the match was one of Worcester attacking the Olton goal, only for the Olton goalkeeper to save everything. The crucial goal for Olton came from a highly dubious short corner which did not hit a foot! Unusually, but not against the rules, the Olton adult received the short corner and distributed the pass that led to the goal and so the half time whistle blew. Positive team talk and the guys came out fighting, playing as well as they had in the first half, making the Olton keeper work overtime. The emotions were bubbling and culminated in a short corner for Olton during which the Worcester adult seemingly expressed an overly loud expression of doubt - resulting in him being sent from the field of play, for the very first time in his career! The Potters played brilliantly while down to 10-men and still caused problems, but despite a final push when back to full strength, Worcester could not equalise. The positives - our borrowed keeper Ali made an awesome save midway through the second half. Immy Gilgrass with a (wo)Man of the Match performance was awesome - skills, pace, stamina and even got chopped down by the Olton adult 10-minutes before the end as she ploughed towards the goal. Max Butterfield solid and creative in his first of 2 Badger games today, showing his versatility by being substituted through all other players positions. Connor Winkworth - workmanlike and positive in attack. Jacob Tribe still in his first 2 months of Badgers Hockey and causing havoc in the Olton defence - you cannot beat raw pace! Matt Boulton and Cameron Davidson solid in defence once again. Seriously well done everyone and apologies to the Potters players and any parents who felt let down today by my indiscretion - I think the Movember moustache (now 15-days old) is messing with my personality!
