Worcester Potters hosted Evesham at the Worcester University Astro pitch on Saturday 6th of December determined to beat the team they lost to the week before. With a late cry off through illness from the Worcester squad, they faced an up-hill battle from the start with Evesham with enough reserves to be able to roll players on and off every 5 to 10 minutes through the match. The match started badly with Evesham having the measure of Worcester and scoring with just 9 minutes played with a break away goal. The rest of the half was fairly even with Worcester having more ball play but repeatedly running into the opposition and giving the ball away instead of passing. Some harsh words and a couple of player movements at half time saw a different Worcester squad in the second half. The ball was released quicker and passed around players and Worcester were able generate a number of short corners on the back of this. Just past half way through the second half Worcester had a short corner which went to Rees Bonham who skilfully took it round the rapidly advancing Evesham defence and slotted it past the Evesham goalie to level the scores. From then on it always looked like Worcester would find another goal to take the win and after a couple of unsuccessful short corners a text book goal was scored with Max Butterfield hitting it out to William Randall who calmly passed it back to Max leaving him an open goal to claim. Worcester never looked likely to lose from then on, despite a couple of Evesham breaks and in fact they scored once more later in the game on a break by Max Butterfield who passed around the Evesham adult to leave Cameron Palmer to beat the keeper which he duly did. Final score 3 – 1 to Worcester. A number of great saves from Worcester keeper Austin Shipley that kept them in the game in the first half and great defending by William Randall, Alastair Borwell-Fox and player of the match Jemima Moss who worked hard throughout the game, defending well when needed and pushing up to support the attack as required. She continues to improve in each game she plays.
