A very hard-fought 0-0 draw was the result of the 2.30pm Potters game away against Yardley. Travel issues on the M42 meant a lengthy delay to the start of the match. The match began with scrappy play from both teams, but it was Worcester who played the better hockey. Tristan Hubbard dominated proceedings in midfield and created much of what was great about the Potters in the first half, Daniel Rickman and Eliot Turner complimented Tristan perfectly. A breakaway from Yardley in the last few seconds was expertly dealt with by Austin Shipley in goal, who charged out, forcing the gangly striker to rush his shot and push it wide of the right post. Our half time team talk centred around making sure when we pass, we pass to a team mate, something which wasnt working brilliantly well in the first half. Second half much stronger and wave-after-wave of attacks by Worcester caused the adult in the Yardley goal problems. The Yardley team were over an inch taller on average that their Worcester opponents, as well as being considerably older. Worcester couldnt quite get the ball to cross the line, but the tireless efforts of our strikeforce of Izzy Nott, Olivia Watts and Mia Pepperdine meant that the Yardley defence could never have a rest. Well done all round, not the greatest of preparation due to the traffic issues, but a solid performance we can all be proud of.
