potters

A positive, all team display from the Potters resulted in a crushing victory against strong opposition at the weekend. It is a pleasure to watch a group of children be rewarded when they demonstrate the merits of a positive attitude, application, ambition and a collective spirit. Against an Olton team who would normally be regarded as tough opposition the Potters took control of the match almost immediately and stubbornly refused to let go right until the end. The midfield controlled possession and made the ball do the work, creating scoring opportunities throughout the first half. The forwards were lively and showed commendable willingness to receive the ball and make something happen. If it hadnt been for the technique and courage of the excellent Olton goal-keeper there would have been the reward of more goals for the Potters. In the second half Olton started to ask more questions of the Potters defence, but they kept their discipline and calmly dealt with the pressure. Eventually Olton managed to create an overlap and score a goal against the run of play (making it 1:3). Instead of creating doubt in the minds of the Potters they did not allow the goal to disturb their rhythm they calmly resumed their attacking intent and were rewarded with two further goals. The quality of the performance made the Coach, Manager, First-Aider and Parents very proud. Man of the Match: The whole team! Scorers: Cameron Palmer x2, Alex Byng x2, Stuart Boocock
