Adult player Shipley hot-footed it down from Cannock (fresh from a 4-1 win with the Mens 5s) arriving with Junior Shipley, the Potters goalkeepers kit just in time for push back! It was clear from the off that this was going to be a close one and so it proved to be, with the first half ending 0-0. Matthew Boulton had organised the defence in the absence of the adult player prior to the start of the match and to be fair he did a cracking job, with Boulton, Batchelor and Lawrence never really looking likely to concede. Connor Winkworth ran things in midfield, marking Hamptons strongest (female) player well and nullifying any threat she may have posed. Left and right midfield of Bowerman and Byng both saw lots of possession, linking well with our front line of Boocock, Tribe & Izzy Nott. Izzy always looked threatening when she took possession at right wing and part of our half time team talk was to provide her with more possession than in the first. The team put this plan into fruition right from the start of the second half, mounting a number of attacks. The opening goal came from Jacob Tribe with a relative tap-in after great work from the players on the right hand side of the pitch. This calmed nerves and spurred the team onto a second goal, just 6 minutes later by a delighted Stuart Boocock who sprinted back to the half way line like an Olympian. The defence was tested as the Hampton in Arden adult pressed closer and closer to the Worcester defensive D and 3 great saves from Austin Shipley, the best of which trapped the ball at full stretch under the toes on his right foot kept Worcester ahead and yet another clean sheet. Final score, a well-deserved 2-0 victory away to a spirited Hampton team. It was a good, clean game, that had the potential to be spoilt by over-fussy, antagonistic umpiring. Well done to Jacob and Ben in particular for keeping their cool - every week you will learn something new and its not always about the hockey! Man of the Match - Connnor Winkworth. Goal Scorers - Jacob Tribe, 43mins; Stuart Boocock, 49 minutes. is not always about the hockey! Man of the Match - Connnor Winkworth. Goal Scorers - Jacob Tribe, 43mins; Stuart Boocock, 49 minutes.
