The first half started well with Worcester taking the upper hand, passing the ball well down the pitch and putting pressure on Lichfield from the stat. With just 12 minutes played Louis Cartwright-Walls got the ball past the Lichfield keeper at close range to open the scoring, and just three minutes later Billy Forrester-Walker got a second in similar fashion. This brought to life the Lichfield adults who started to take a much more active role in the match meaning the teams were much more level in ownership of the ball. With neither team able to score the 1st half ended 2 – 0 to Worcester. The second half started with Lichfield putting in a determined effort to pick up a goal but the Worcester defence, despite being caught too high a number of times were always able to get back and cover the Lichfield attacks, in fact the Worcester goalie only touched the ball once in the whole match. Mid way through the second half Louis picked the ball up on the edge of the Lichfield d and instead of taking a shot, which was sure to have been saved, passed the ball on to John Orr who pushed it past the keeper to make it 3 – 0 to Worcester. The match ran out with repeated attempts by Lichfield to pick up a goal but Worcester stood firm to take a 3-0 win. Special thanks should go to the Lichfield umpire who agreed to play some of the new rules being brought in this September to give all the players a chance to see what they meant to the game. Some good hockey throughout the match from both sides, but ultimately a strong Worcester defence was the difference between the teams. Jacob tribe earned the match for his hard work throughout in both attack and defence.
