8 1st team regulars away this week. A couple of players doubling up on games as the 2nds played before us on the same pitch. We managed to get to 13.5 players.
Warm was as expected for the second preseason games. A quick chat and then the sky opened up, a deluge, some impressive thunder & lighting, hail smashing down. This was the first bit of great team work of the day. Watching 12.5 grown men trying to fit in the dugout made for 4 but they did it. 10 min delay followed.
Game started and a competent Gloucester team were on top but didn’t really cause too much of an issue. A slight lapse in concentration from a Worcester player meant a great chance for the oppo and 1-0 down.
After that Worcester started to get joy from the some excellent distribution from the back and Mids and forwards making leads to pick up the ball in the wide channels. Unfortunately we could quite get that killer pass in to the D.
With 10 mins of the half to go the Worcester lads stepped up a gear linking through the midfield to create some sustained pressure this eventually paid off after a string of really good chances. James Neal sent in his trademark slap to the back post and Liam Blondon was there cool and calm to push it home.
Half time 1-1
The rest of the game was fairly even with chances at both ends but think worcs probably edged the possession and chances. A draw was a good result and the lads showed some grit to make sure it wasn’t a loss.
