The local derby game was always going to be a tough game for both sides. Worcester started the brighter of the two teams on home turf, keeping possession of the ball and moving the ball around with some of their best play of the season. Although Stourport didnt make it easy for them to find a way through, Worcester kept patient and kept the calmer heads of the two teams. They were unlucky not to open the scoring when a ball found a way through to Clare Hayes who couldnt quite get the touch to put it in the goal. This chance kept Worcesters belief and they stuck to defending hard and not allowing Stourport any chance of an attack. Worcesters break came from a well worked piece of play where a Philly Roberts quick ball to Lucy Walton caught Stourport napping and some quick play by midfield players found Clare Hayes who calmly slotted the ball away. Worcester led 1-0 for the rest of the 1/2. After half time the intensity of the game began to get to both teams with play becoming more ragged. Stourport found a way through mid way into the second half to draw level. With neither team wanting to let the other get the upper hand an intense hard fought finish to the game ensued. Worcester showed a great determined team performance.
