Despite being under strength due to injuries, Worcester men's 1st XI put in a fine performance to beat Belper 3-2, following a shaky start which saw them a goal down in the opening minute. Worcester then bossed the first half leading 2-1 at the break. A fine attack down the right wing saw Chris Perry deflect the ball skillfully from the the baseline, for Joe Schubert to slot home, whilst brother Tom Schubert converted a penalty corner shortly after.

Continuing their attacking style early in the second half saw Worcester handed lots of possession over to Belper who seemed likely to equalise, until the wise old heads in Worcester's defence took control and helped retain possession once more. Excellent performances from Chris Finch (Man-of-the-match) and Goalkeeper Jame Gerrish ensured Worcester did not concede under pressure.

Debutante Rory Simons showed fine individual skills and grew in confidence during the game, despite a big step up into MRHA Midlands Premier hockey, to give a tiring Belper defence an exhausting run-around.

Joe Schubert then created a penalty corner opportunity which Tom Schubert converted to relieve the pressure at 3-1. Belper scored a consolation goal with 5 minutes to play, however Worcester looked in control to the final whistle.
