Worcester 1 v 2 Edgbaston Worcester Mens 2nd XI suffered their second defeat in as many weeks following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to local rivals Edgbaston in this West Midlands Premier division match at the University of Worcester. The Visitors started the game at an incredible pace and took an early lead in controversial fashion after the Edgbaston striker received a first time pass inside the D from a free hit inside 25 yard zone. Much to their bewilderment, the goal stood and Worcester needed to chase the game. After a poor first half and some stern words at half time, Worcester were rejuvenated for the second half, with Man of the Match Jack Townsend again impressing on the right wing. Worcester soon got their just rewards and Jez Drake selflessly played in Brett Pittam to snatch a valuable equaliser. With the game finely poised, Edgbaston were reduced to 10 men after their talisman was shown a straight red card for a horror tackle on midfield anchorman Andy West. Worcester failed to take advantage of the extra man though and as they pressed for the all important winner, they were hit on the counter attack in the dying moments as the away team broke forward and snatched a dramatic late winner.
