Skipper leads the way

Worcester 2s were keen to put the previous weeks defeat behind them and put on a show in front of the home crowd. Skipper Chris Watling set out his requirements early before the warm up had started he'd already sharpened the axe and made a point of showing it to anyone who dared not to take this game seriously. So with the threat of being cut from the team everyone seemed very focused on what was required.
Joe Hughes had already been in the skippers ear in the run up to the game trying to convince him to play new formations which basically was any formation that had Joe playing in a position he wanted and everyone else fitting in around him. Watling listened to all the advice Joe had given him and followed none of it.
The warm up started and soon highlighted Tom Dalton was on, His lunar cycle was obviously in that special place and he was in a foul mood storming in and out of the goal while the outfield players peppered his goal. He was complaining about everything, the washing up hadn't been done, we didn't care about him, we didn't pass the ball fast enough, the pitch was a mess... Pat Sharratt soon put this right with a few words of encouragement.

The game started and soon after the Worcester boys could tell this game was for the taking as Bournville seemed a little under strength as Worcester dominated possession and probed the B'ville defence, the breakthrough came as Watling appeared at the back post and slotted the ball home following some quick passing via Ollie Ranscombe, Joe Hughes and Matt Hooper.

Worcester kept the pressure on and played nearly all the hockey in the attacking half of the pitch and with 3 quick short corners and Worcester being kept out with some fine saves from the away keeper to keep the visitors in the game. B'ville managed a rare visit to the Worcester half and made it in to the D. This was quickly snuffed out by Tom Dalton who was heard moaning about how his D wasn't a hotel for people to come and go as they please. As the player ran for cover to get away from his onslaught of moaning Worcester broke up the pitch and won a short corner. With a slight variation to the routine Worcs saw their skipper smash home a 2nd goal and take a 2-0 lead.

Half time 2-0
Watling gave some positive words and explained that Worcester needed to raise and work rate a little bit more and keep playing the simple hockey as they had done in the first half, he explained that more goals would follow. He finished by asking Tom Dalton if he was ok? Tom replied "yeah i'm fine just a few stomach cramps that's all.... i'll be fine"

The 2nd half started and followed the same trend as the first but with the B'ville players starting to fade Kanye Hood produced some great skillz and found him self in the D as he flicked the ball goal wards and as the ball was all but over the line Rob Goodman popped up and touched the ball over the line just to make sure. 3-0.

The final 10 mins were all Worcester and with wave after wave of attack they won a penalty flick this is where the Worcester players got to see the real JB. The umpire signalled for the stroke and and the ball still rolling around JB was seen scrambling for the ball shouting "mine, mine". It was like a child grabbing their toys so the other kids couldn't play with them. As Watling decided not to take it and go for the hat trick he said let JB have it. As everyone one of the b'ville players stood watching hoping he would miss the flick Worcester were stood the other side of the pitch also hoping for JB to miss. JB remained calm and scored to make it 4-0

The last couple of minutes played out and Dalton still shouting about keeping his clean sheet and his moaning was down to a slight grumble. We think someone had given him some chocolate to ease his pain.

Game ended 4-0

Man of the Match was given to Chris Watling

DoD was claimed by Ollie Ranscombe (even with a few squad members trying to team up and force the result in a different direction) Unlucky Ollie.
