Experience Shines Through With 10 Goals From The Old Boys

Worcester 2s started the 2nd half of the season in style.

The game started and with play going back and forth the early stages looked like it would be another even game with the last 2 games between the 2 teams ending in a draw.

Worcester were able to make a break through with a excellent breakaway goal finished off by Ben Martin tapping home from close range. A second goal followed shortly after with Rory Simmons jumping in front of his man to deflect the ball home through the GK legs. The passing between Worcester players was of the highest standard and with James Neal spraying his trademark slingshot around with pin point accuracy this often started a good move for the 2nd team. Worcester added a 3rd goal following a excellent passing move where nearly all the team touched the ball at some point (not you Dalton), Ben Martin again in the right position to smash the ball home for his 2nd of the day. 3-0 Worcester. This goal saw the North Staffs keeper lose his cool and was given a green card and 2 minute rest. Worcester kept the pressure on and took advantage of this to claim 2 further goals from Matt Hooper and Rob Goodman.

With North Staffs struggling to cope with the waves of attack from the Worcester players a further 2 goals were soon added to the tally and again it was the older players in the team who were involved Goodman and Hooper once again scoring the goals from 2 more short corners..

Half time 7-0

Skipper Watling gave his half time talk and the Worcester boys were keen to continue the pressure and seek out more goals.

The second half started and was soon in to the same trend with Worcester dominating the play although Puggy was actively trying to avoid scoring his hat trick goal so that he didn't have to buy a jug in the pub. But even with Puggy missing on purpose this gave opportunity to Joe Hughes and Henry Jeffs (2) to both get on the score sheet and put the game firmly out of reach for any come back from North Staffs but to their credit the North Staffs players kept playing and were rewarded with 2 goals... Dalton??

Worcester picked up there work rate once again and were about to score there 11th goal but once again Puggy choose to hit the post rather than the empty goal another blatant attempt to miss so he didn't have to buy his team mates a drink. so tight!

As the younger legs in the Worcester team started to tire and slow down. The older and more experienced proved their bigger engines were in far better condition and Rob Goodman raced in to score his third goal completing his hat trick and Matt Hooper finished off his day by taking 5 goals to make the final score 14 - 2 to Worcester.

Joe Sullivan took the award for DOD for playing attacking midfield and not being involved in any of the 14 goals Worcester scored.
Even scoring 5 goals was not to seal a man of the match award for Hooper. Instead the MOM went to James Neal for some outstanding distribution from the back.
