Another sunny Saturday, and after negotiating the narrow road to the Edgbaston High School for Girls hockey pitches, the mens 6's enjoyed their best 60 mins of hockey this season so far. The first 10 mins saw both teams testing each other, and Worcester found ourselves under some pressure, but some good tackling and concentration on passing saw us wrestle control and start to dominate possession and field position. With our first short corner won, Ali was there to convert the rebound after a thunderous strike came off the post-mans feet. Thankfully saving the arguments of who was going to take the P-Flick. Edgbaston responded to going behind and forced a short corner of their own, but Dimi was more than ready for the strike. With Worcester dominating Pritch converted one of several chance we created and we went in 2-0 up at half time.
Second half and Worcester were in the groove now, lots of good passing and energy from the midfield, ahead of a solid defence saw Tom and Pritch create lots of chances and several short corners. Early in the half Tom set up Prtich for his second and Worcester were on the charge. Will's injections had been great, but an absolute howler eliciting a British Rail like "leaves on the pitch" excuse saw the ball travel about a meter before he attempted to redeem it by playing it again. Such a rarity it took the umpires several moments to realise this is against the rules and blow for the 16. Obviously still a bit cross with himself Will later hit a slightly rising 16 which caught Mark in the rear - to much general amusement. Worcester were being a little profligate in front of goal, and we do need to sharpen up, but we had time to round off with a nice short corner slip move with Tom getting his reward to secure the 4-0 win
MOM close between Nick/Chris (great midfield effort) and Tom (2 assists and a goal), but Tom edges it.
DoD Not me for once, Will taking the honours for the leaves an the pitch moment
