Round 1 of the England Hockey U18's competition saw a young Worcester squad travel to Towcester. Having never played Towcester before the squad and coaches didn't know what our opposition would be like so all went out to play positively and own the match. This the young squad duly did having not had much squad time together before the match. From the start the girls communicated well and passed the ball with ease. The midfield was controlled by Worcester with a number of stunning little touches from Nikki Ralph, Daisy Ellis and Abi Marsh within open play setting up forwards Charlie Platt and Immi Gillgrass perfectly. The back 4 of Charlotte Berlet, Lucy Stratton, Alice Wilson and youngest in the team Bella Fielden were unbreakable with Lucy brilliantly running in to intercept the opposition passes and making some great runs up the pitch. Charlotte Hurley in goal didn't have much to do but did have to make a couple of saves to keep a clean sheet but gave great vocal support to the team throughout. The goals were opened up with one from Charlie Platt followed shortly with some impressive individual skills Immi's first of the match. A penalty flick was awarded before halt time which Immi put perfectly into the top of the net. 3-0 at half time saw the girls on a high but a couple of green cards and a yellow for not keeping the 5 yards at a free hit kept the girls on their toes. A second penalty flick of the match came 15 minutes into the second half, giving Immi her hatrick of the match. The 5th goal came from a short corner shot from Daisy Ellis, rebounded off the keeper and finished by captain Nikki Ralph. The 6th and final came from a blistering strike off the top of the D by Immi giving her a 4th for the match. The game finished at 6-0 and has given the girls the boost they need for Round 2 in November
